Customer Review: Very berry Sugar Whipped Soap

A few weeks ago I sent out a request for customer reviews and the response was great! If you are interested in doing a review just send your name and address to erin@naiadsoaparts.com with a list of three products you would like to review. I will choose one on the list that needs feedback and ship it to you for your feedback!

Today we have a guest post from one of my customers Gail Kahles reviewing Very Berry Sugar Whipped soap. She was nice enough to include some photos too! Thanks so much Gail!

Gail writes: Naiad’s packaging is always pretty, and this product is no exception. The label is classy, featuring a sweet graphic and an eye-catching font. As is true for all Naiad products, this would make an exquisite gift.

I was surprised how hefty the 10 oz. jar felt when I picked it up. There’s a large amount of luscious soap in here! Once opened, I discovered an exact replica of berry frosting, right down to the glistening sugar. Mmmm, mmmm, I almost went searching for a spoon! Sniffing deeply, I detected a light mixed berry scent along with a vibrant clean smell. Delicious!

I first used this soap straight out of the jar and directly onto my skin. It had a gentle scrubbing effect and made me feel very indulged. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed any soap or scrub as much as this one. It’s smoooooth and moisturizing perfection! I later tried it on a bath poof, where it made volumes of rich, luxurious lather. Oh my, this product is truly heavenly!

If I were forced to criticize, I’d have to say I prefer a stronger fragrance. I love the uplifting mix of fresh berries so much that I want to enjoy more of it!

New Stuff: Whipped Scrubs!

The benefits of daily exfoliation are widely known. When we exfoliate we help remove dead skin cells from the outermost layer of our skin, the epidermis, which the keeps skin clean, and helps reduce dry flaky skin. Exfoliation helps to expose newer skin cells and helps to unclog pores, allowing sebum to flow and keep skin moisturized. Exfoliation also increases blood flow to the surface of the skin so toxins can be more readily removed and exfoliation can help improve the tone, texture and evenness of skin color.

Available in Cinnamon Coffee, Key Lime & Grapefruit and Lemon Gingergrass. This product emulsifies into a creamy scrub when applied to wet skin. It will leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated without feeling too oily! 6 oz/ 170g. in a cute bail jar available at naiadsoaparts.com
98% natural.

Our Fragrant Cinnamon Coffee scrub is made with Natural Cocoa Butter, high in vitamin E and easily absorbed by the skin, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, and Coffee Grounds for a more intense scrub. With a sweet Cinnamon, citrus scent!

Our Key Lime and Grapefruit scrub smells like fresh squeezed Key Limes and Pink Grapefruit and is made with Organic Shea Butter. Shea Butter contains beneficial fatty acids thought to promote cell regeneration and circulation. Wonderful for dry and aging skin! The antioxidants in vitamin C from Grapefruit and Lime are said to reduce damage to the skin caused by free radicals.

Our Lemon Gingergrass scrub smells like Lemon Ginger Frosting and is also made with Organic Shea Butter. The antioxidant in ginger, gingerol is a powerful antioxidant that fights skin damaging antioxidants and Ginger and Lemon are both used to promote an even skin tone.

Recipes: Avocado Berry Smoothie

This morning I started my day with Key Lime and Grapefruit Whipped Shea Butter Scrub and an Avocado and Berry Smoothie to help my metabolism started after 8 hours of sleep! Eating a balanced breakfast including good carbs, protein and fat can help reduce the risk of weight gain, fatigue throughout the day and muscle wasting*. I need to keep up my energy for soapmaking after all!

This recipe only takes about 5 minutes and is a great way to start your day! This recipe is packed with protein and due to the avocado this does have a fair amount of fat but it is good fat and it will give you sustained energy until your next meal unlike quick burning simple carbs. For your reference I included nutrition info below.

Ingredients:
  • 16 oz Pure Almond Unsweetened
  • 2 scoop , 100% Whey Protein. NOTE - any protein powder will do. I used EAS Vanilla Whey Protein powder. If you use another protein powder nutrition info will vary slightly.
  • 1 cup Strawberries, Fresh or Frozen
  • 1 cup Blueberries Fresh or Frozen
  • 75 g Avocado(about 1/2 fruit)
1) Wash the blueberries and strawberries. I like to wash fruit ahead of time and freeze it and use the frozen fruit in my smoothies but you can use unfrozen as well, or store bought frozen fruit as long as it is unsweetened whole fruit.
2) Slice strawberries if necessary.
3) In a blender add Almond Milk, Berries, Protein and Avocado and blend on high for ten seconds, and then in 3 or 4, five second pulses.
Serve immediately - 2 servings

Here is to happy healthy mornings!

English Apothecary™ giveaway

The English Apothecary™ line was conceived in January of 2010 during a rainy morning walk, where here in Southern California we are in the middle of rainy season and all of the flowers are in full bloom. I caught the scent of something sweet, floral and citrus and had to run home to try and recreate it. I wanted English Apothecary™ to be an all natural line but strayed on my initial products, which were very popular but did not adhere to the 100% natural criterion I had drawn for the brand so I wanted to start over. I got stuck, then I got busy, then I got married, and so the line has been dormant for over a whole year!

I really wanted to do English Apothecary™ right with the product line clear and packaging all in order. It has been slow going, as it sometimes is when you are the R&D, Production, and Packaging departments but I am finally ready to launch the first products!

I would love to hear what YOU think about the new scents! I am giving away sample packs of 1 oz. bar soaps, full 5.25 oz bar soaps, full 14 oz. jars of sugar scrub and full 8 oz. size liquid soaps! There will be 12 prizes in all with two lucky recipients getting bar soap, scrub and liquid soap!

There is a catch - I want your feedback! Let me know what you think about the products and be honest! I will try to post a survey once everyone gets their samples and has a chance to try them, but feel free to leave a comment in this post.
Note - some of the packaging is not finalized in case your label falls off (wink).

To enter just leave a comment below. I will announce the lucky 12 this Saturday August 6th at 5 pm PST. Shipping to the USA is free but if you are outside of the country I will ask that you cover 50% of the shipping so please note this when entering.

The bar soaps will be available in

Lemon Honey
Orange & Blossoms
Peppermint Tea Tree
Bergamot, Lime & Basil
